Summary: Use AI to connect our visitors of many cultures to the Met collection. The idea would be to provide a path between different cultural backgrounds to the parts of the Met collection that are European, Middle-Eastern, or Asian; Christian, Muslim, or Hindu; and so on. For example, intangibles such as “sorrow”, “grief”, or “melancholy” have different meanings and values in different cultures. Or for instance Jesus Christ’s crucifixion is a common theme in Christian art, but visitors unfamiliar with this theme may want ways to recognize and access it.

The idea: AI may be able to help connect the many cultural filters to the existing collection. Cross-labelling, cultural crosswalks, cultural context?
