Imagine a group of friends or family gathering to share and tell a story. One person starts and they pass the role of narrator from one to the next. Using voice recognition the AI identifies and displays relevant Met artworks. In turn, these images can generate new ideas within the group. Storytellers will intuitively realize how to call up artworks, but other works will appear unexpectedly. In this way the group organically discovers the Met’s collections in ways that are personally relevant and accessible.
This project fosters discussions about art, is inclusive and has the potential to reach broad audiences, across age groups and backgrounds. Finally this group of images can be shared, studied, and offer a gateway to the museum and it programming.
AI can take advantage of the Met's metadata and especially the tags to source clusters of related artworks.
